Call for Abstracts

Flagship of IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (IEEE/OES) and of the Marine Technology Society (MTS), the OCEANS Conference is one of the most influential international conference in this field.

OCEANS 2019 Marseille, under the theme “Let’s sea our future together”, will be the ideal opportunity to present your latest and most innovative research to a qualified audience of experts. Abstracts and full technical papers must fall under one of the Special Marseille Topics or Standard Oceans Technical Topics.

KEY DATES:

  • Abstract Submission Opening : 8 November 2018
  • Deadline for abstract submission : 29 January 2019 closed
  • Authors notification : 11 March 2019 closed
  • Student Poster notification: 25 March 2019
  • Opening of registration and hotel booking: 25 March 2019
  • Full paper due : 15 May 2019 updated
  • Deadline for early bird registration : 15 May 2019
  • Oceans 2019 Marseille opening : 17 June 2019

SUBMISSION CATEGORIES:

  • Regular Technical Program : if the submitted abstract is chosen, authors will then be required to submit a full paper they will present as part of the technical progam (in a technical session). Following the conference, the paper will be published in IEEE Xplore. Submit your abstract now
  • Student Poster Competition(*): if the submitted abstract is chosen, students will then submit a full paper and poster which they will present during the student poster section of the Exhibition Hall. Following the conference, the paper will then be published in IEEE Xplore.
    (*) This competition is open to any full-time student in an accredited program. Students must be listed as the lead and corresponding author. Selected applicants, based on abstracts reviews, will have travel and registration expenses subsidized.
  • General Student Poster Session: Abstracts submitted to the General Student Poster Session must be completed by a student. The student must be listed as the lead and corresponding author. General Student Poster Session abstracts may cover a wide range of topics outlined by the Technical Session topics. The abstracts could present early stage experiments/designs and/or data, education or outreach efforts to name a few examples. As the General Student Poster Session category does not require a full paper, a robust data set is not expected, however to set context and purpose some data will be expected in the results portion of the poster. The registration fee for posters to be presented during the General Student Poster Session will be discounted.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINE:

  • All abstracts must be submitted in PDF format, and must be created by the author (co-authors are allowed).
  • 500 word minimum; 1000 word maximum; 2 page maximum – inclusive of text, graphics, and references.
  • Please include at the top of the abstract the name of the principal author, the institute or affiliation the paper represents, and the title of the paper.
  • The originally-submitted abstract cannot be used as a substitute for the conference paper. Please note that abstract PDFs do not need to be converted through the IEEE Xplore PDF eXpress service.
  • Authors of accepted papers are expected to prepare and submit the conference paper (4 to 10 pages) for conference proceedings at the conference (additional instructions will be given at that time).
